Ranbir-Priyanka's Barfi! earns over 60 crore in 6 days at box office

The latest figures are in and it's a rosy picture for Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra's Barfi! According to trade analysts, Anurag Basu's heartrending tale is not only doing well at the box office but is, in fact, picking up even more!

The sudden surge may be attributed to the holiday for Ganesh Chaturthi. According to koimoi.com, the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer saw a 15-20% rise on Wednesday thanks to the holiday. Barfi! made an approximate Rs. 7 Crores on it’s sixth day at the box office.
"Barfi Fri 9.2 cr, Sat 11.5 cr, Sun 13.9 cr, Mon 6.5 cr, Tue 6 cr, Wed 7.25 cr. Total: Rs. 54.35 cr nett. Extraordinary!," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted today.
BarfiThe film has also made over 13 crores due to its overseas box office collection, it now has a worldwide box office collection of 67.1 crores, according to Koimoi.com.
The film is especially doing well in multiplexes. "#Barfi was released in less than 700 cinema halls in India [a tiny release as compared to the biggies]. Occupancy at plexes was fantastic," adds Taran Adarsh.
The film's business seems to have picked after a positive word of mouth.
"Barfi has done remarkable business. The film gathered steam with each passing day, rising to the optimum on Saturday and Sunday." Adarsh tweeted.
The film, produced by UTV Motion Pictures for a budget of around Rs. 30 cr, recovered the cost in its opening week itself. Trade experts estimate that it will go strong in the next week as well.
Siddharth Roy Kapur, managing director, studios, Disney UTV is overwhelmed by the response. “These are moments that filmmakers, artistes and producers live for. The appreciation that is being showered on the film in India and around the world is unprecedented. It’s a huge moment for Anurag Basu and the crew. This is a film we have supported and nurtured from the beginning,” Roy Kapur told HT Cafe.
