Dabangg 2, which released in theatres on December 21, opened to a packed house and turned out to be the biggest opener for non-holiday Friday. The romantic action showed a drop in its business on Saturday, but it witnessed a huge jump on Sunday. The movie did wonderful collection at the domestic Box Office in the first weekend, thereby breaking the previous record of Rowdy Rathore.
Salman's previous release Ek Tha Tiger, which had released in 3,300 screens in the country on August 15, had collected Rs 101+ crores at the desi Box Office in the five-day first weekend. WhereasDabangg 2, which released in 3,500 screens in the country, was expected to break this record. But the movie failed and it collected Rs 65 crores at domestic collection centres in its opening weekend.
Ek Tha Tiger, which cashed in on Eid holiday on Monday, had collected Rs 50+ crores at the domestic Box Office on weekdays. Whereas Dabangg 2, which cashed in on Christmas holiday on Tuesday, has also done superb business on the weekdays, but it is not up to the mark of Ek Tha Tiger. Dabangg 2has collected Rs 43.37 crore at the domestic Box Office on the weekdays.
Ek Tha Tiger had collected a total of Rs 156 crores at the Box Office in its nine day opening week and its breakup was Rs 32.92 cr on Wed, Rs 14.5 cr on Thu, Rs 12.90 cr on Fri, Rs 16.75 cr on Sat, Rs 23.06 cr nett on Sun, Rs 20.68 cr Mon, Rs 16.31 cr on Tue, Rs 10.45 cr on Wed and Rs 7.5 cr on Thu.
Whereas Dabangg 2 has raked in Rs 108.37 crores nett at the Indian Box Office in the (7 days) first week and its breakup is Rs 21.10 cr on Fri, Rs 19.06 cr on Sat, Rs 25 cr on Sun, Rs 12 cr on Mon, Rs 16 cr on Tue, Rs 8.12 cr on Wed and Rs 7.75 cr on Thu. For a non-holiday Friday release, it is a record-breaking collection and the movie has set a new record at the Box Office.
